Karin Dom Foundation
Kelly Redden was invited in April 2008 as a lecturer in Karin Dom Centre for Children with Special Needs, Varna, Bulgaria. For five days she gave talks on different approaches for working with autistic children, like TEACCH, ABA and Intervention Techniques.
Apart from the lectures Kelly observed practical sessions with children. The staff was given lots of new ideas and suggestions regarding specific problems they encountered in their work with children with special needs. Kelly Redden proved to be a professional with a valuable hands-on experience with caring and gentle attitude towards children. She showed techniques for handling unacceptable behavior and gave a written feedback based on her observations of particular children from the autistic spectrum which helped in improving our work.
The team of professionals at Karin Dom Centre – special teachers, psychologists, speech therapists were pleased at the chance to learn from her.

Kelly Redden, from SAS (Specialized Autism Services), has been working with us and our son since April 2005.
Hugo is five years old and has been diagnosed with a possible disorder within the Autism Spectrum Disorder (PDD-NOS), Noonan’s Syndrome, 1.5 year delay in non-verbal cognitive development, 2 year delay in speech and language skills with a low IQ. He attends a special school with English curriculum for 27 hours per week.
Kelly Redden has implemented an intervention plan, in the home setting for about 10 hours per week, which includes goals from us, the school IEP (Individual Education Plan) and the speech and language therapist’s recommendations.
These goals are included in an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) based intervention plan designed and implemented by Special Autism Services (SAS) including training of the parents and tutors involved in Hugo’s care.
A mix of Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Pivotal Response Training (PRT) was implemented into Hugo’s programme. Training in these areas was provided as well as a complete data collection notebook with all of the necessary data sheets specifically designed for each skill in Hugo’s programme.
The initial priority target skills (curriculum areas targeted by SAS training and direct intervention sessions) included social play, imitation skills and spontaneous requesting Non-Verbal Imitation; Block Imitation; Motor Skills; Matching; Pretend Play; Independent Work and Play; Receptive Instructions; Receptive Labels; Categories; Communication; Verbal Imitation; Expressive Labeling; Basic Conversation; Assertiveness; Pronouns; Negation; Attributes; Toilet Training; Self Help Skills; Behavior.
During the past three months, Hugo has shown a steady increase in attention span, cooperation, verbal skills and fine motor skills, including a significant improvement in his attitude and behavior.
We feel very positive about these results and consider Kelly Redden an outstanding professional in her field of expertise.

To the parents of a special needs child:
As former clients of Kelly Redden, we can highly recommend entrusting the treatment of your child’s needs to Specialized Autism Services. In addition to providing solid therapeutic services for our 5 year old son, Kelly regularly went beyond the requirements of her job description to ensure that our son received the benefit of every service and consideration she was capable of providing.
We were very sad to lose Kelly who had become our good friend as well as our son’s best therapist. But we’re certain our loss will become your gain if you employ Kelly Redden and SAS to provide therapy for your child.

To Whom it May Concern:
I am pleased to recommend Kelly Redden for employment with your family. Kelly was employed as a research interviewer for the Patterns of Care Project (POC) of the Child and Adolescent Services Research Center from January, 1998 to January, 1999. I served as her supervisor from January 1998 to July 1998.
The purpose of the POC project was to learn more about the mental health needs and service use of children who were enrolled in one or more sectors of the public service system. In Kelly’s position, she interviewed youths (aged 6-18) who had utilized one or more of five public sectors of care during a one-year period (juvenile justice, child welfare, SED programs in public schools, mental health, drug and alcohol programs and their parent or guardian. She displayed diligence and motivation and has gained proficiency in the administration of standardized measures. Her ability to establish rapport with difficult children made her a particularly strong asset to our center. In addition, Kelly worked well with research staff, administrators and study participants. She exhibited efficiency, organizational ability and impressive interpersonal skills in working with sometimes challenging children and families. She stands out among other research interviewers in terms of her excellent interpersonal skills and rapport with families
Kelly was always extremely responsible and completed high quality work in a timely fashion. She was always on time for her assignments and dependable. These qualities, combined with her skill in working with children, make her a excellent choice in any position that involves working with children.
Therefore, I recommend Kelly without reservation to you. If you should have any further questions about her work at the Center, please feel free to contact me.

To Whom it May Concern:
This letter is in regard to the employment and experience of Kelly Redden. She was employed at New Alternatives #17 from 11-16-1998 to 05-05-1999 as a child care worker. Her responsibilities involved the implementation of a structured, therapeutic treatment program that utilized behavioral modification and positive reinforcement for 5 to 12 year old children with severe emotional disturbances.
A daily regimen included planning the shift schedule, organizing group activities, implementing activities of daily living (i.e wake-up, hygiene, chores, bedtime), crisis intervention and acting as an appropriate role model. Physical interventions were necessary when safety became a concern. Interventions, such as behavioral contracts and a point system, proved effective in assisting the children to learn to make positive choices.
In summery, Ms. Redden was employed at a dynamic and energetic program. Patience and empathy were essential skills necessary to be effective in her position. She displayed these qualities with energy and motivation. Please call if there are any further questions #(619) 447-2431.

To whom it may concern,
For nearly a year Kelly Lynn Redden has provided behavioral therapy for my 5-year-old son, who was recently diagnosed with autism. My child has made significant gains and I plan to continue to use her services to help him overcome his disability and have a better future.
Time and again Kelly has shown herself to be a dedicated therapist who is not only well trained and capable, but also caring. I am pleased to recommend her to other families who have a child with an autism spectrum disorder.
One of the many ways that Kelly has helped our family is by providing advice on how to deal with behavior problems on our own. Among other things, this has helped our son to conquer his fears of everyday objects such as telephones, public toilets, plants, cats, and dogs.
In her work, she keeps written documentation of a child’s progress. To any parent who is interested, I would be happy to give examples of how my son has improved in the past year in terms of fine motor skills, thinking, social interaction, and speech.
If you would like additional information, please do not hesitate to ask Kelly for my name and personal contact information.

Kelly has been working with our 15 year old son Christopher since October 2006 Christopher has severe learning difficulties together with motor planning problems. Kelly introduced to us the use of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) with Christopher and has provided advice and support about the system both to us as parents and to his class teachers at the special school he goes to in Leiden. The system involves Christopher initiating communication by choosing symbols representing wishes e.g. food or ideas e.g. music/tv and passing them to a helper and immediately getting his choice as a reinforcement of his actions.
She works with Christopher two or three times a week using ABA/DTT whilst monitoring and recording his achievements. Kelly has also helped design a structured approach to the toilet training of Christopher in conjunction with the special school in Leiden that Christopher attends. She provides support and gives advice to us on how to encourage Christopher to put into practice some of the skills he has now learnt, such as switching on the tv whenever he wants!
We find Kelly to be professional, helpful and dedicated and value highly her contribution to the care and development of Christopher.
